Do you have questions regarding the proposed Public Health-care option currently being debated in Congress? Or  concerns regarding the proposed NC budget negotiations which now includes proposed tax hikes, cuts in education and social services?

Sen. Doug Berger is hosting a Town Hall meeting to answer your questions. The event is this Thursday, July 23rd at 6:30pm. The event will be held at the Old Vance County Courthouse in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room.  The address for the Old Courthouse is 122 Young Street, Henderson, NC 27536.

According to an email from Brice Bratcher, Berger’s Legislative Assistant; Representatives Michael Wray, Lucy Allen and Jim Crawford will also be in attendance. Adam Searing of the NC Justice Center will be giving a presentation, and attendees will be given an opportunity to ask questions of Mr. Searing and other present legislators.

Sen. Berger recently came under fire for voting to cut home care for elderly Medicaid patients by 60% , a move that would eliminate in-home care for 20,000 patients. But Berger in turn voted YEA, to build a $25 million dollar fishing pier with a 16,000 square foot clubhouse and ballroom at the beach, EIGHT DAYS LATER. Below is an ad from Save Home and Hospice Care regarding the cuts.

According to Talking about Politics ; Berger claimed his vote was warranted due to a report he received  from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) which stated 45 % of the recipients under the current state program were not eligible anyway.
