Listen up fellow fiddle/string  enthusiasts! You are invited to attend “Arts Smart”, a string concert featuring the Mt Energy Strings and the Mustang Melodies, courtesy of  the teachers of the Arts at Mt. Energy Elementary School . Performers at tonight’s concert are from the Beginning, Intermediate and Chamber ensembles and the concert starts off with an ole fiddle tune named “Old Joe Clark” at  7:00pm.

Mt. Energy Strings is a “after-school strings education program”  for Grades 1 and up.   Suzanne Moody Smith, the instructor for the Chamber ensemble said “the after school strings program started several years ago, (while many schools saw funding cuts for their Arts program) because Angela Magnum, Evelyn Shider and others at Mt. Energy saw a need for the program”.  “What Angela has done, bringing a strings program into the Granville County school system is nothing short of heroic” said Smith. “The Arts play a very important role in the development of every child’s mind and character”.

A rare opinion in this age of video games and text messaging, isn’t it? Hope to see you there and check back tomorrow for some photos and highlights from the event.
