Bigoted, intolerant and uninformed politicians like Virgina Foxx (R-NC) have NO place in office in North Carolina let alone anywhere else. Congresswoman you should resign effective yesterday. My we all remember your ignorance in 2010.

The truth about Matthew Shepard’s case from Rick Sanchez of CNN

Keep in mind the GOP was against additional funding for pandemic flu prepareiness but they sure can pass blame and hate.

Who’d a thunk it, Palin on American Chopper? Actually, I am sure she and the GOP would say she is expanding her domestic policy experience, after all the show is called “American” Chopper. But, I’ve got a better 15 minute grab Palin must consider. How about an episode of Ripley’s Believe it or Not, and the episode should highlight how Palin as Mayor of Wasilla had rape victims pick up the tab for the testing of their own rape kits. Now that’s entertainment, You Betcha!!!!! (wink…wink)

Sixteen-year-old Ashton Lundeby’s bedroom in his mother’s Granville County home is nothing, if not patriotic. Images of American flags are everywhere – on the bed, on the floor, on the wall.

But according to the United States government, the tenth-grade home-schooler is being held on a criminal complaint that he made a bomb threat from his home on the night of Feb. 15.

The family was at a church function that night, his mother, Annette Lundeby, said.

“Undoubtedly, they were given false information, or they would not have had 12 agents in my house with a widow and two children and three cats,” Lundeby said.

Around 10 p.m. on March 5, Lundeby said, armed FBI agents along with three local law enforcement officers stormed her home looking for her son. They handcuffed him and presented her with a search warrant.

“I was terrified,” Lundeby’s mother said. “There were guns, and I don’t allow guns around my children. I don’t believe in guns.”

Lundeby told the officers that someone had hacked into her son’s IP address and was using it to make crank calls connected through the Internet, making it look like the calls had originated from her home when they did not.

Her argument was ignored, she said. Agents seized a computer, a cell phone, gaming console, routers, bank statements and school records, according to federal search warrants.

“There were no bomb-making materials, not even a blasting cap, not even a wire,” Lundeby said.

Ashton now sits in a juvenile facility in South Bend, Ind. His mother has had little access to him since his arrest. She has gone to her state representatives as well as attorneys, seeking assistance, but, she said, there is nothing she can do.

Flying Pigs, Tamiflu and Factory Farms

If we are to believe what our trusted international media report, the world is on the brink of a global pandemic outbreak of a new deadly strain of flu, H1N1 as it has been labelled, or more popularly, Swine Flu. As the story goes, the outbreak of the deadly flu was first discovered in Mexico. According to press reports, after several days, headlines reported as many as perhaps 150 deaths in Mexico were believed caused by this virulent people-killing pig virus that has spread to humans and now is allegedly being further spread from human to human. Cases were being reported hourly from Canada to Spain and beyond. The only thing wrong with this story is that it is largely based on lies, hype and coverup of possible real causes of Mexican deaths.

Pig Factory Farm Industrial Production is a classic breeder of disease and toxins but little attention is being paid to this source.

One website, revealingly named Swine Flu Vaccine, reports the alarming news, ‘One out of every five residents of Mexico’s most populous city wore masks to protect themselves against the virus as Mexico City seems to be the epicenter of the outbreak. As many as 103 deaths have been attributed to the swine flu so far with many more feared to be on the horizon. The health department of Mexico said an additional 1,614 reported cases have been documented.’ We are told that the H1N1 ‘shares genetic material from human, avian and swine influenza viruses.’1

As the Department of Homeland Security releases a memo outlining quarantine guidelines, it is important to look beyond the hype and put the swine flu outbreak into some perspective. While no one can deny the situation is serious and should be dealt with accordingly the fact is that since January of this year more than 13,000 people have dead from the regular seasonal influenza.

From CNN

Since January, more than 13,000 people have died of complications from seasonal flu, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s weekly report on the causes of death in the nation.

No fewer than 800 flu-related deaths were reported in any week between January 1 and April 18, the most recent week for which figures were available.

The report looks at deaths in the 122 largest cities in the United States.

Only six states have confirmed cases of swine flu as of this posting and those numbers are expected to rise. The memo released by DHS has language found in a November 2005 report by the former Bush administration. The report entitled the National Strategy For Pandemic Influenza outlines key areas of concern.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has sent a memo to some health care providers noting procedures to be followed if the swine flu outbreak eventually makes quarantines necessary.

DHS Assistant Secretary Bridger McGaw circulated the swine flu memo, which was obtained by, on Monday night. It says: “The Department of Justice has established legal federal authorities pertaining to the implementation of a quarantine and enforcement. Under approval from HHS, the Surgeon General has the authority to issue quarantines.”

McGaw appears to have been referring to the section of that allows the Surgeon General to detain and quarantine Americans “reasonably believed to be infected” with a communicable disease. A Centers for Disease Control official said on Tuesday that swine flu deaths in the U.S. are likely.

Federal quarantine authority is limited to diseases listed in presidential executive orders; President Bush added “novel” forms of influenza with the potential to create pandemics in Executive Order 13375. Anyone violating a quarantine order can be punished by a $250,000 fine and a one-year prison term.

One issue not yet determined is where did this specific previous never before seen “new” strain of swine flu originate from? Natural News may have some answers worth thinking about that should concern us all.

Swine Flu Smoking Gun? CDC was Combining Flu Viruses in 2004

Source: By Sherry Baker | Natural News

(NaturalNews) Last week, when what is now called a “swine flu” was first reported to be infecting and killing some people in Mexico, health officials noted it was a strain of flu never before seen. In fact, it is technically incorrect to call this simply a “swine” flu. Analyses showed it’s a mixture of swine, human and avian viruses, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Moreover, it is genetically different from the fully human H1N1 seasonal influenza virus that has been circulating globally for the past few years. Bottom line: the new flu virus contains DNA from avian, swine viruses (including elements from European and Asian viruses) and human viruses.

So did this curious mixture just develop naturally, out of the blue? Is it the result of inhumane farming practices, as the Humane Society of the United States ( has suggested, that exposes immune-compromised pigs to all sorts of animal and human feces?

Well, maybe. But let’s go back and look at the facts to see if any other scenario could be possible.

The new swine flu cases are caused by an influenza strain called H1N1, which appears to be easily passed from person to person. Mexican health authorities have confirmed 149 deaths from that flu and are investigating the illnesses of 1,600 people, and the United States, Canada, Spain and other countries have confirmed or are investigating cases.

But doctors have little information yet on the mortality rate, as there is no reliable data on the total number of people infected. Reports from the United States suggest that some cases may be mild and therefore may go undetected — allowing the disease to spread further. Flu experts are trying to determine if this year’s flu shots, which contain H1N1 strain, offer any protection.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari said Monday that Pakistani intelligence believes Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is dead but acknowledged they had no evidence.

“The Americans tell me they don’t know, and they are much more equipped than us to trace him. And our own intelligence services obviously think that he does not exist any more, that he is dead,” Zardari told reporters.

“But there is no evidence, you cannot take that as a fact,” he said. “We are between facts and fiction.”

Zardari was responding to reports that Pakistani Taliban in the troubled Swat valley have said they would welcome bin Laden if he wants to visit the former Pakistani hill resort which is now in the hands of Taliban.

“The question is whether he is alive or dead. There is no trace of him,” the president said.

There is a must read by Lisa Sorg at Indy Weekly regarding several notable NC environmental bills currently in committee. One bill, if passed could put an end to the devastation in Appalachia caused by mountaintop coal removal, the bill seeks to prohibit utility companies from using newly mined coal extracted by that method.

A member of Save Our Cumberland Mountains, League testified before the House Committee on Environment and Natural Resources this week, advocating for a bill that would prohibit utility companies from using newly mined coal extracted by that method in North Carolina power plants. Under House Bill 340/ SB 341, the utilities could honor existing contracts, but after those agreements expire, no new mountaintop coal could be used.

Clearly it is time we protect our resources and move past the baseless arguments made by utility companies. As Sorg points out in her article, the utility companies, Duke Energy and Progress Energy (in an attempt to  maintain their profit margins) opposed the bill, citing it is too expensive. Furthermore, their lies myths  for the continued use of the mountaintop removal method have been debunked and the destruction is getting some much needed exposure.

Rep. Phil Haire, a Democrat from Sylva, in western N.C., is one of the bill’s four primary sponsors. “Money is a scare tactic. Seventy percent of the coal comes from underground,” said Haire, who grew up in mining areas of West Virginia. “The amount of destruction that has rained on this part of America—I have a hard time reconciling that in my mind.”

Oh Sweet Jesus (to quote my good friend Kathy) it is official, although not surprising, Texas is suing DHS for the National Bio and Agro Defense Facility (NBAF). On Thursday, the Texas Biological and Agro-Defense Consortium, the group bidding for the NBAF  in San Antonio, Texas, filed a solid, legally sound (my opinion) notice of intent to sue the Department Homeland Security with the U.S. Court of Federal Claims ( full complaint below). The group plans to have the site decision, vacated and demand that all preparatory work on the project be halted.  Some of the “newly” cited reasons in the lawsuit are,  “serious irregularities in the decision-making process, improper political influence, and disregard for public safety”.

“Disregard for public safety”? You think? But wait it gets better! Now, individuals from respective “losing” states (I use that term loosely) namely Georgia and Texas are now making the “public safety” argument that consists of the same concerns expressed by citizens opposing the NBAF during the site selection. Only now these concerns are reasons for a lawsuit? Consider this for example:

He said the site was improperly chosen because DHS ignored the high risk of tornadoes in the region, pointing to a tornado with 200 mph winds that struck the site last year. Kerr said damage to the facility could cause the release of deadly airborne pathogens — an allegation disputed by Kansas officials.

The Texas Consortium’s chairman, John Kerr, called the selection of the Manhattan, Kan., site “grossly irresponsible, the equivalent of playing Russian roulette with Mother Nature.”

And then Georgia pipes in.

We don’t want to create our own bio or agro disaster because of a bad facility,” Broun told POLITICO Wednesday.  “Any place in the country could have potential tornadoes, but Manhattan, Kan., is notorious.”

I can appreciate a through review of  the NBAF, NEPA process the lawsuit will provide but as I have said before Texas has its own issues we should be concerned about absent the NBAF. Moreover, truth is DHS’s own study, the NBAF Final Environmental Impact Statement states that “a moderate to severe tornado could “cause catastrophic consequences, including the destruction of exterior and interior walls”. Which means IN THE EVENT OF A TORNADO…(like in 2007) cows will as pigs can…FLY! and joining them on their short flight will be their nasty new bugs. Just think about it folks, DHS is asking for the LOWEST bidder to construct the damn thing and how do you cut costs? you cut corners. What’s that ole saying? “you get what you pay for”, Well this time let’s hope not.
