Nationwide, 46,000 foreclosures start every week, or one every 13 seconds that is the current trend according to The Center for Responsible Lending (CRL) a Durham, North Carolina based nonprofit dedicated to protecting consumers from predatory lending and abusive financial practices. CRL has an attention getting feature on their website, what it represents is shocking. CRL’s website now displays a constantly updated counter showing new foreclosure starts this year for the Nation and also by state.

Few will argue the current financial fallout has guided us toward a startling downward spiral of home foreclosures , now even the most optimistic economists are warning that if the foreclosure spiral doesn’t level off the most  optmistic  federal stimulus spending won’t spur an economic recovery for the Nation. The number of Foreclosures expected in North Carolina for the period 2008-2009 is estimated at 53,254 and 155,000 over the next 4 years. You can find where your state ranks here.
