Holy Taco  has the answer and once again they have accomplished what few can, they make Bush funny.

If you delve a little deeper into the no room at the inn story, one could summize this whole affair is being over blow by the media (Surprise). My opinion, this fiasco is really about the comfort zone of the former Australian prime minister, John Howard because of his previous anti-Obama, pro-war comments. Under Howard’s leadership, Australia joined “ the coalition of the willing” (remember them?) to invade Iraq and subsequently Howard became a very close,” willing” loyal ally of  Bush and his “war on terror”.  The riff  between Howard and Obama occurred after Obama pledged to end the war in Iraq during the Feb. 10th, 2007 speech announcing his candidacy for the White House.

Here is the excerpt of Obama’s speech that addressed the war in Iraq;

But all of this cannot come to pass until we bring an end to this war in Iraq. Most of you know that I opposed this war from the start. I thought it was a tragic mistake. Today we grieve for the families who have lost loved ones, the hearts that have been broken, and the young lives that could have been. America, it is time to start bringing our troops home. It’s time to admit that no amount of American lives can resolve the political disagreement that lies at the heart of someone else’s civil war. That’s why I have a plan that will bring our combat troops home by March of 2008. Letting the Iraqis know that we will not be there forever is our last, best hope to pressure the Sunni and Shia to come to the table and find peace.

And there is one other thing that is not too late to get right about this war — and that is the homecoming of the men and women — our veterans — who have sacrificed the most. Let us honor their courage by providing the care they need and rebuilding the military they love. Let us be the generation that begins that work.

Now here is what Howard said in response, according to the Sidney Morning Herald. His comment sounded a bit  like a Neocon mini-me.

“I think he’s wrong. I think that will just encourage those who want to completely destabilise and destroy Iraq, and create chaos and a victory for the terrorists to hang on and hope for an Obama victory,”

President (soon to be) Elect Obama countered Howard’s remark with a bit of a right back at ya snark.

“I think it’s flattering that one of George Bush’s allies on the other side of the world started attacking me the day after I announced,” Mr Obama told reporters from the campaign trail.

“I would also note that we have close to 140,000 troops in Iraq, and my understanding is Mr Howard has deployed 1400, so if he is … to fight the good fight in Iraq, I would suggest that he calls up another 20,000 Australians and sends them to Iraq.

“Otherwise it’s just a bunch of empty rhetoric.”

SNAP!

What caused this?

What caused this?

Every once in a while you run across a story that kick starts your imagination, this is one of those stories.

An investigation was under way today into how a 65ft blade was mysteriously torn off a wind turbine amid reports of “strange lights” in the sky.

The 300ft turbine at Conisholme in Lincolnshire was left wrecked after the incident. The Sun quoted residents speculating that the damage could have been caused by a UFO.

Ecotricity, the company which operates the turbine, said it was investigating the unprecedented incident. A spokeswoman said: “We’re conducting a thorough investigation into what happened. This kind of thing has never happened to us before.”

The missing blade was found on the ground beneath the turbine, she said, adding that the company could not speculate on the cause of the damage.

So there is no evidence that anything crashed into the turbine but nearby residents claim to have seen orange lights before the incident.

The Sun said flashing orange-yellow spheres had been seen by dozens of people in the area, including by Dorothy Willows, who lives half a mile from the scene of the incident. Ms Willows was in her car when she saw the lights.

“She said: “The lights were moving across the sky towards the wind farm. Then I saw a low flying object. It was skimming across the sky towards the turbines.”

The blade was ripped off hours later, at 4am.

Suggestions or explainations regarding the cause? I believe the missing turbine had structural fatigue, snapped off and then hit another blade on its way down. But that’s just my thought. However, the only rational explanation is a UFO crashed into the turbine after the Alien pilot consumed a few pints at the local pub. There, mystery solved… hick-up.
