Swing and miss, it would seem Liddy Dole has really gone off the “Jesse Helms impersonating” deep end with her latest Godless ad against Kay Hagan. Honestly, I don’t think she did her campaign any favors or maybe it’s the other way around, by using the Karl Rove play book for politics. Kay Hagan has ran a good campaign based on solid issues and her poll numbers prove it. The latest Rasmussen Poll shows Hagan with a six point lead over Dole.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the Tar Heel State shows Hagan with 52% of the vote and Dole with 46%. Three weeks ago, Hagan held a five-point advantage.

Bottom line, Dole’s senate record is coming back to haunt her on many fronts. Just yesterday a non-partisan environmental group called “the League of Conservation Voters” added Dole to their list of the “Dirty Dozen.”

“Senator Dole’s record,” Massaro said in a statement, “proves that she’s working in the best interests of Exxon/Mobil, not the people of Raleigh/Durham. For Chevron, not the people of Charlotte. For the lobbyists of big oil, not the people of small town North Carolina.”

Then, there is the where does Dole live question? That Dole and her campaign has sucessfully dodged this election cycle. We know where husband Bob lives and it ain’t in North Carolina. When it is all said and done I think Kay Hagan who by the way does live in the state she will be representing will have the last word, at least in this post and this election.
